Best Microphone Settings for Microsoft Teams

For optimal Teams audio: click your profile picture > Settings > Devices and select your microphone and speaker by name. Teams has built-in noise suppression that's enabled by default — you can adjust it during a call by clicking the three dots > Settings > Device settings > Noise suppression (set to High in noisy environments). Unlike Zoom, Teams automatically adjusts mic volume, which works well for most users. If your voice is too quiet, increase your mic input in Windows Settings > Sound > Input before joining. For hardware, a USB headset with a boom mic gives the best clarity. Avoid speakerphones in shared offices. Test your audio before a meeting by clicking the pre-join screen's device settings to preview your mic and speaker. Teams also supports echo cancellation automatically when it detects speaker-mic feedback.
