Microphone static is usually caused by electrical interference, a loose connection, or too-high input gain. First, lower your mic input gain in your OS sound settings — high gain amplifies electrical noise. On Windows: Settings > Sound > Input > reduce volume. On Mac: System Settings > Sound > Input > lower input level. If you're using a USB mic, try a different USB port (front panel ports often have more interference than rear ports). For 3.5mm mics, check the cable for damage and make sure the plug is fully seated. Keep your mic cable away from power cables and monitors. If the buzzing sounds like a hum at 50/60Hz, you likely have a ground loop — try a USB ground loop isolator. Switching to a USB mic from a 3.5mm analog mic often eliminates static entirely.
