Open any online mic test in Chrome on your Chromebook and click Allow when prompted. If the level meter moves when you speak, your mic works. To check Chromebook mic settings natively: click the clock area in the bottom right, click the gear icon for Settings, go to Device > Audio, and make sure the correct input is selected and the volume is turned up. If your Chromebook doesn't detect the mic, restart the device (Chromebooks rely on Linux audio drivers that occasionally need a restart). For external USB mics, plug them in and select them from the audio input dropdown. Bluetooth headset mics also work — pair the headset in Settings > Bluetooth, then select it as the input device. If the mic works in the browser test but not in Google Meet, check Meet's audio settings and re-select the mic.
