Microphone clipping occurs when the input signal exceeds the maximum level your audio system can handle. The peaks get "clipped" off flat, producing harsh distortion that sounds like crackling or buzzing, especially on loud consonants (P, B, T). It happens when your mic gain is set too high, you're speaking too close to the mic, or you suddenly raise your voice. To prevent it: lower your mic input gain until peaks stay below -3 dBFS (you can check with a mic clipping test). Move the mic slightly farther from your mouth. Use a pop filter to reduce plosive sounds. In your meeting app, disable automatic gain control if it's boosting your mic too high. On Windows, also reduce or disable Microphone Boost in Sound settings > Recording > your mic > Properties > Levels. If you frequently clip, consider a mic with a higher maximum SPL rating.
