Choppy video in Teams is caused by insufficient bandwidth, high latency, or CPU overload. First, run a network test: you need at least 1.5 Mbps upload/download for stable 720p video. If network looks fine, check CPU usage — Teams is resource-heavy and virtual backgrounds make it worse. Close unnecessary apps and browser tabs. Disable background effects: during a meeting, click the three dots > More actions > Turn off background effects. Turn off incoming video from other participants (three dots > Turn off incoming video) to reduce bandwidth and CPU usage. Switch to Ethernet if on Wi-Fi. Update Teams to the latest version. If Teams consistently performs poorly, try using the web version (teams.microsoft.com) in Chrome, which is sometimes lighter than the desktop app. Lower your display resolution in Settings > Devices if your computer is underpowered.
