Screen tearing appears as horizontal lines where the top and bottom of the screen show different frames. It happens when your GPU's frame output doesn't sync with the monitor's refresh rate. Enable V-Sync in your game or application settings to force the GPU to match the monitor's refresh. For a better solution with less input lag, enable G-Sync (NVIDIA monitors) or FreeSync (AMD monitors) which dynamically sync the refresh rate to the GPU's output. In Windows: Settings > Display > Graphics > turn on Variable Refresh Rate if your monitor supports it. Update your graphics drivers from NVIDIA or AMD's website. If tearing happens in desktop apps (not games), enable hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling: Settings > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings. Make sure your cable supports your resolution and refresh rate — a DisplayPort cable is preferred for high refresh.
