Why Is My Audio Cutting Out on Zoom?

Speakers & AudioBy Simone Park2026-03-31

Audio that cuts in and out during Zoom is almost always a network issue. Run a speed test — if your latency is above 150ms, jitter above 30ms, or packet loss above 1%, your connection is too unstable for smooth audio. Switch to Ethernet if possible. On Wi-Fi, move closer to the router and use the 5GHz band. Close bandwidth-heavy apps (cloud backups, streaming, large downloads). If network looks fine, the issue may be Bluetooth: wireless headsets can drop audio when the connection weakens — keep within 3 feet of your device and remove interference. On Windows, check that audio enhancements aren't causing glitches: right-click speaker > Sound settings > your device > Properties > disable enhancements. In Zoom, try disabling HD audio: Settings > Audio > uncheck "High fidelity music mode" and "Use original sound."
