Open an online webcam test that displays technical details — it will show your camera's current resolution (e.g., 1280x720 for 720p, 1920x1080 for 1080p) and real-time frame rate (FPS). Most laptop webcams are 720p at 30 FPS; external webcams often support 1080p at 30 FPS or 60 FPS. If the resolution shown is lower than your camera's spec, check your meeting app's video settings: Zoom requires HD to be enabled in Settings > Video. Bandwidth limitations also cause apps to reduce resolution automatically. To get the maximum resolution, close other apps using bandwidth, use a wired connection, and ensure your webcam drivers are up to date. On Windows, you can also check maximum supported resolution in Device Manager > Cameras > your camera > Properties > Stream tab.
